Patrick Vieira has his first point as OGC Nice coach after his side came from behind to draw 1-1 away to SM Caen on Saturday evening.
After starting the season with a 1-0 defeat at home to newly-promoted Stade de Reims last weekend, Nice looked to be heading for another setback here at the Stade Michel-d’Ornano. But they were rescued by a late goal from substitute Ignatius Ganago, who headed home from Olivier Boscagli’s hanging ball into the box with eight minutes remaining.
It was a first goal for the 19-year-old since his debut, when he netted in a 4-0 rout of AS Monaco almost a year ago. And Vieira will hope this result kickstarts the season for Les Aiglons, who were again without the suspended Mario Balotelli in Normandy but saw Myziane Maolida make his debut after joining from Olympique Lyonnais.
