Nigerian governors under the auspices of Nigeria Governors Forum have said there is no way they can afford to pay N30,000 as minimum wage.
They said doing so would lead to the collapse of their states and that the states will also go bankrupt.
The governors arrived at this after their emergency meeting which was held in Abuja on Wednesday night.
Briefing journalists after the governors met behind closed doors, the chairman, Abdulaziz Yari, maintained that many states would not be able to pay the new minimum wage proposal of N30,000.
He said only Lagos State has the capacity to pay because of its IGR.
They, therefore, resolved to raise a fresh committee to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over the issue.
